HOW TO STEAM SHRIMP RICHARD IN THE KITCHEN

In this video I show you how to properly steam shrimp. Super sized shrimp seasoned with Old Bay seafood seasoning and steamed to perfection. Shrimp is low in calories, low in fat, loaded with nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids which is good for the heart. A healthy meal ready in less than 30 minutes. • Shopping List: • Frozen raw jumbo or colossal size shrimp, deveined, shell and tail on • Old Bay seafood seasoning • Pinch of Kosher salt • 1/2 cup water (about 1 inch) • Garlic butter dipping sauce • Lemon or lime slices for garnish • Directions: • Add the frozen shrimp to a strainer and place into a bowl of cold water to thaw. About 5-10 minutes. Once thawed, rinse well. • Add the water and beer to a steamer pot and bring to a rolling boil. Make sure the water level does not touch the steamer basket and the shrimp. • When the water is at a rolling boil add the thawed shrimp and steam for 7 minutes, flipping them at about 4 minutes. • Steam for about 7-10 minutes total. Shrimp are done when they are opaque/pink. DO NOT OVER COOK. • Serve on top of wild rice and garnish with lemon or lime slices with either cocktail sauce of garlic butter sauce. • Peel and enjoy! • TIPS: • TRY TO BUY JUMBO OR COLOSSAL SIZE SHRIMP THAT HAVE BEEN DE-VEINED AND THE SHELLS AND TAILS LEFT ON. IF YOU CAN'T FIND ALREADY DEVEINED SHRIMP JUST MAKE A SMALL CUT ALONG THE BACK OF THE SHELL AND USE A TOOTHPICK TO PULL OUT THE VEIN. THE VEIN IS THE DIGESTIVE TRACT OF THE SHRIMP. IT POSES NO HEALTH RISKS TO EAT IT, BUT WILL CAUSE SORT OF A GRITTY TEXTURE WHEN EATEN. • IT'S BEST TO STEAM SHRIMP WITH THE SHELLS ON. SHRIMP ARE DELICATE AND CAN BE EASILY OVER COOKED IN SUCH A HOT ENVIRONMENT.
