“LMF would reappear whenever something goes wrong with the society.” • Speaking of the OG in the history of Hong Kong Hip Hop, LMF is undoubtedly among the first few names that come up. Stands for the abbreviation of “Lazy Mutha Fucka”, LMF banded 20 years ago with core members from individual bands like Anodize, N.T. and Martyr. Most band members met through “Dark Entry”, the underground music show that usually took place back in Ko Shan Theatre. In the past 20 years, LMF experienced self-funding, disbanding and regrouping, however none of which weakened their status in the hearts of local Hip Hop fans. Known for making ‘grounded’ music that reflects the real lives of Hong Kong people, LMF reaches out to the world by expanding their topics to global issues. With songs like “WTF”, “Liberty”, “The Dark Times” and “2019” releasing in more recent years, LMF portrays current political situation through their lyrics. Hence the saying goes, “LMF would reappear whenever something goes wrong with the society.” • In sight of LMF’s 20th Anniversary, fans rejoiced with “LMFXXYEARFEST” concert 2 days in a row at the end of December 2019. On top of capturing such a milestone moment for the group, HYPEBEAST also took the opportunity to follow their journey along the way.
