The facet joints, together with the intervertebral discs and spinal ligaments, connect the adjacent vertebrae and ENSURE mobility of the neck. Injury to THESE structures may lead to Wry neck. Wry neck is a condition characterized by pain and stiffness in the neck, associated with spasms or contractions of the neck muscles. As the result of the muscle spasm, the neck may become twisted and tiled to one side. When this happens, it's called Torticollis. Wry Neck is a very common condition. It can be quite disabling, because it causes severe neck pain and difficulty moving the neck.
