Have you ever wondered what upscaled 1080P HD VS 4K looks like? • Well, in this video I'm doing that exact thing. What I've done is to record the same locked off shot in both 1080 and also 4K, or to be more precise, the UHD variant of 4K. • I then upscale the 1080 footage in a 4K/UHD project and split screen it with the same shot that was shot in native 4K UHD. So basically I'm doing a video resolution test between the upsacaled 1080 HD version compared to the 4K UHD version, or the perceived resolution differences between them. • The upscaled 1080 versions could be made to look a little more sharper with the perceived result of higher resolution by using a sharpening filter. I didn't do this as this kind of process is very subjective and also degrades the image beyond what the upscaling algorithm is already doing. The video scaling algorithm used for this test was Lanczos 3. • All the relevant information about this test is in the video itself. • Here's a link to a web folder where you can download two versions each of the whole video and just the test portion. Each of the two versions are encoded to 30Mbs and 60Mbs. The 30Mbs version should hopefully help people on lower internet speeds. • http://www.mediafire.com/folder/l6dlo... • Although 4K UHD should really use a higher bit rate than what I've chosen for these encodes. Because the content is locked off and mostly static within the frame, the lower bit rates are fine and also smaller for download purposes. • Let me know in the comments what you think of the results and if you immediately noticed much difference. • And in case you couldn't tell, the upscaled HD footage was on the left. • • If you would like to support my YouTube channel please subscribe, give a like to this video and click the notifications bell icon for notifications for my future videos.
