MA v Shawn Souza • Former Dartmouth, Mass. police officer Shawn Souza was convicted by a Bristol County jury on October 2, 2024 of 2 counts aggravated r8pe of a child, one count of r8pe of a child by force one count of indecent assault battery of a person 14 or older. One child testified she was between 6-8 years old when the acts occurred, the other child testified she was 15. On October 3, 2024, Judge Susan Sullivan sentenced Souza to 10-15 years in prison plus 2 years probation. On December 18, 2024, Judge Sullivan overturned the jury verdict, granted Shawn Souza a new trial, and released him from prison.
