Liminal Spaces SCARE ME and Why Im taking Photos of Them

Walking around town taking photos that scare me... let me explain. • I have been heavily inspired by the works on Todd Hido after recently watching a video by Jamie Windsor. In short, Todd Hido creates a very unique style of atmosphere within his photos, an atmosphere I've rarely seen before. • This atmosphere is very similar to the concept of Liminal Spaces. Here's what google defines as a liminal space: Liminal Space is an aesthetic that refers to the feeling of being in a transitional space that has been abandoned - a mall at 4 am or a school hallway in summer, for example. This makes it feel frozen and slightly unsettling. • Todd Hido's photography gives me that slightly unsettling feeling and as weird as this might sound... I wanted to try and recreate something similar. • So I jumped at the opportunity to shoot around my local town, in these rare snowy conditions in an attempt to create atmosphere within my photography. • Did I achieve what I wanted?
