Identifying a Nissan CD009 transmission is important if you want to go fast without breaking parts. Nissan offered these transmissions in the 350Z, G35 and now the 370Z. two flavors: weak and NOT weak. The CD009 is the stronger of the two, and making sure you purchase the correct one is important for your project car. The 2J-Z will be running this transmission behind it in true stock form. • I called Larry at Sound Performance who built a 1,200+ horsepower 350Z that saw multiple 9 second passes (as seen in this video) and he informed me that the CD009 transmission he used behind that motor never gave him even one issue. “Shift intelligently” was one of his pieces of advice. • This transmission is a great option for both the guy on a budget or something building a seriously high horsepower car. The Toyota transmission options are getting both expensive and hard to find, so with this being an option, you really can’t be the value.
