How To Polyaspartic Top Coat

Using a polyaspartic to top coat a flake floor has become a fairly common practice. The purpose of this coat is to fill any air voids that are created as a result of the flake installation, and it serves as the resilient protective layer. Some installation methods specify a two coat application (one to fill the voids and one to provide the wear layer), whereas others specify one coat (one coat to fill and protect). In either case the result should be a uniformly smooth surface that contains no surface voids and is fully protected. • The video shows the process of installing one coat. The volume applied to the surface equals +/-14 mils or 111SF/gallon. The use of a flexible trowel (with medium pressure) pulls the material to a consistent thickness, and it leaves just the right amount behind to uniformly cover the flake. After the material is spread, an 18” 3/8” roller is lightly passed over the surface to relieve the resin’s surface tension. It takes some practice, but it does make for a faster finish to the job. • ๐บ๐ธ๐ช๐ผ๐บ๐ธ๐ช๐ผ๐บ๐ธ • #POLYASPARTIC • #EPOXYCOATINGS
