I filmed these buzzards calling, mewing and in-flight over 2 days to show the beauty of this Magnificent Bird of Prey and to hear their fabulous 'mewing' call sound and all in its natural habitat. • The Buzzard will usually feed on rabbits, carrion, rats, mice, lizard, roadkill, worms, beetles and also the easy pickings of the numerous natural casualties of a lambing season. • (often assumed to have killed a healthy lamb and SHOT illegally by the 'shepherd'). • When the shooting fraternity collectively releases an estimated 40 MILLION factory-farmed and imported (from France) pheasant and partridge each year, then, of course, a tiny fraction of these may be taken for survival. It is a perfectly natural behavior. • Have there actually been any scientific studies undertaken to assess the impact that this un-natural mass release of an alien species might have on our native wildlife? • So a subsidized landowner pleads poverty and claims he may go bankrupt over a few pheasants (ready to be shot then dumped) being naturally predated for FOOD by an odd Buzzard? (this actually went to court) • This near-bankrupt landowner reportedly spent thousands of pounds challenging in court the right to protect his means of earning a (very good) standard of living and in my considered opinion, un Natural England and some Judge issued the first of I suspect many Licenses, allowing 'a gamekeeper' to kill 'up to 10 Buzzards' to stop a few pheasants being taken. • They will now be inundated with applications for Licenses to slaughter Buzzards from (I'm guessing) 90%+ of all gamekeepers on shooting estates. Licenses could now be handed out to gamekeepers, who will challenge any refusal, to potentially slaughter as many Buzzards as they like, or (I'm guessing) as they will swear on oath 'up to 10'. • I find it totally unforgivable for un Natural England for handing out such Licenses to slaughter a PROTECTED species, in order to protect an imported and purposely farmed alien species, specifically for folks to shoot for fun and aside from one or two per shooter, dump in a heap for the gamekeeper to 'get rid of'. • Their (the shooting fraternity) Inglorious 12th (August) has already passed and the driven grouse shooting is now an ongoing slaughter. And from 1st September, they release millions of Partridge, followed by ridiculous numbers, estimated at 35-40 million pheasants on 1st October. • It would be interesting to hear other opinions on this 'about-turn' on the formerly protected Buzzard and the tsunami of good fortune going the way of the shooting fraternity. • If you enjoyed this video would you kindly click the 👍 Like 👍 button. • #birdsofprey #buzzard #raptors
