Exciting developments in #CornealTransplantation are taking off and making their way to the US thanks to Aurion Biotech!✈️ According to Dr. Priya Mathews (@priyamathewsmd), one groundbreaking advancement is corneal endothelial cell therapy. Aurion Biotech's initial candidate treats dystrophies that cause corneal #blindness. This innovation has the potential to treat up to 100 patients with a single donor cell. With shorter procedure times and remarkable outcomes, corneal endothelial cell therapy may revolutionize #corneal surgery and transform the way we treat corneal diseases. Although not currently available in the United States, Aurion announced last month that it has completed dosing of all subjects in its Phase 1 / 2 clinical trial (CLARA) of AURN001. • The CLARA Phase 1 / 2 clinical trial is a prospective, multi-center, randomized, double masked, parallel-arm cell dose-ranging clinical trial in subjects with corneal edema secondary to corneal endothelial dysfunction. The study will evaluate three different doses of neltependocel used in combination with Y-27632. 97 subjects have been randomized at US Canadian sites. The CLARA trial is designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of AURN001 for the treatment of corneal edema secondary to corneal endothelial dysfunction. The primary endpoint is the percentage of subjects who gain three (3) lines of vision at six (6) months. • Looking forward to hearing more from #Aurion and see how this groundbreaking technology can help patients worldwide. #ophthalmology #cornea #eyecare • FInancial Disclosures: none • References: • Kinoshita S, Koizumi N, Ueno M, Okumura N, Imai K, Tanaka H, Yamamoto Y, Nakamura T, Inatomi T, Bush J, Toda M, Hagiya M, Yokota I, Teramukai S, Sotozono C, Hamuro J.
