On this week’s “Gun of the Week,” American Rifleman staff preview the Sierra 316L, a lightweight carbine from Del-Ton Incorporated. • What began in North Carolina as a parts and accessories supplier for America’s modern sporting rifle, Del-Ton Inc., now supplies a full lineup of turn-key, semi-automatic rifles. The company’s Sierra 316L, subject of this week’s video preview, provides the versatility of a modernized AR-15 platform while maintaining a cost-conscious approach. • Del-Ton supplies 7075 T6 aluminum, forged upper and lower receivers that are hardcoat anodized for a matte-black finish. The flat-top upper is configured for right-hand ejection, along with a forward assist mechanism and ejection port cover. • The Sierra 316L features a 15” handguard, and thanks to Magpul’s MLOK mounting system, users can simply accessorize as needed. Del-Ton supplies a lightweight profile, 16” barrel. A twist rate of 1 in 7” is supplied, and the barrel is threaded and fixed with a birdcage-style flash hider. • The gun’s lower is configured with standard, no-frills controls; a two-position safety selector is found on the left and on the right side is a magazine release button. The gun’s mil-spec buffer tube is fitted with a five-position collapsing buttstock. Provisions for sling attachment are found here, too.. • Del-Ton Sierra 316L Specifications • Manufacturer: Del-Ton Incorporated • Action Type: direct-gas, impingement-operated, semi-automatic rifle • Chambering: 5.56x45 mm NATO • Receivers: forged 7075 aluminum • Barrel: 16” lightweight profile • Handguard: 15” MLOK compatible • Magazine: 30-round detachable box • Sights: none; Picatinny rail for optics • Length: 36.375” • Weight: 6 lbs., 3 ozs. • https://www.del-ton.com/ • Watch our NRA Gun of the Week video above to learn more about the Del-Ton Sierra 316L MLOK. • For the latest firearms and shooting content, please visit https://www.americanrifleman.org/ • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Check out the following links to learn more about your NRA: • National Rifle Association of America — https://bit.ly/32dwH2D • NRA Publications — https://bit.ly/38GpKtj • American Rifleman — https://bit.ly/39IW2E4 • American Hunter — https://bit.ly/2HF0oAa • Shooting Illustrated — https://bit.ly/2udFtRR • NRA Family — https://bit.ly/2HEYNdC • NRA Women — https://bit.ly/3dxbgiD • America’s 1st Freedom — https://bit.ly/3bNhBW2 • Shooting Sports USA — https://bit.ly/2wvFRvK • Hunter Leadership Forum — https://bit.ly/37FkK77
