Welcome to episode 93 of the Lessons from the Cockpit show! I’m your host Mark Hasara, former KC-135 pilot and Weapons School grad of the 509th Weapons Squadron. • I was contacted by a gentleman via email who has a great story to tell. Of the five human senses your sense of hearing is one used all the time when flying. Steve Porchaska journey to the cockpit had a big hurdle to overcome which would ground most pilots Not Steve. He began losing his hearing but new hearing technology to fly with a cochlear ear implant. Steve tells us about his journey to become a pilot flying business jets moving time sensitive cargo. • The Lessons from the Cockpit show is supported by Wall Pilot (https://wallpilot.com), custom aviation art for the walls of your home, office, and hanger. These are four, six, and eight foot long profiles of famous aircraft printed on vinyl which peek off and stick to any flat surface. They are extremely detailed and exhaustively researched profiles of aircraft from WWII Me-109s and P-51s to fifth gen fighters like the F-22 and F-35. GGO to https://wallpilot.com and chose from 157 Ready-to-Print profiles or fill out a custom form and we’ll draw you favorite aircraft with your name on it from your favorite unit and weapons load. • I’ve always loved the F-4 and the Phantoms from Clark Air Base The Philippines have the coolest paint scheme with shark mouths on the nose. This F-4G Advanced Wild Weasel destroyed a MiG-21 Fishbed while an F-4E near Hanoi North Vietnam. • https://wallpilot.com/product/mcdonne... • This is one of the F-4G Wild Weasels I refueled the opening night of Desert Storm, flown by Lieutenant Colonel George “John Boy” Walton and his EWO Bud Redmon. This was my first combat support mission of my KC-135 career. • https://wallpilot.com/product/561st-t... • One of the great opportunities of my flying career was being at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Japan assigned to the 909th Air Refueling Squadron, the best flying assignment of my career. While assigned there I got three rides in the F-15D Eagle, the only fighter jet never shot down during combat. The Eagle has 104 victories to zero F-15s lost. • https://wallpilot.com/product/f-15c-e... • I really appreciate all of my subscribers coming by and downloading this a previous episodes of the show.
