Sometimes, you are in this scenario: You are on a version of Baseband that is unlock-able using Gevey, R-SIM, Cydia Tweaks or Software Modifications (Carrier Bundles). In order to keep the baseband from being updated and destroying the unlock, you must stay on the iOS version with which it came. Sometimes, this is not the greatest way because your iPhone or iPad will surely lack a lot of new features and Security Updates. • So what you do? • You restore the latest iOS version without baseband. • In other words, you preserve the baseband firmware by stopping the restore process before writing a new BBFW (Baseband Firmware).
