The Carolina Tar Heels - Peg Awl • Made immortal when artist and vinyl connoisseur Harry Smith edited the Folkway's 1952 release The Anthology of American Folk Music. It would influence all the folk artists and in turn the world. Originally recorded in Atlanta, Georgia on October 14, 1928 (VIC 40007A). The Carolina Tar Heels - Doc Walsh, Clarence Ashley and Garley Foster recorded for Victor between 1927 and 1929. One of their performance posters describes Doc Walsh as The Banjo King of the Carolinas and Garley Foster as The Human Bird. Their stage show included Foster's bird imitations. They disbanded in 1932 and reunited in 1961. It's a great snapshot of the Industrial Revolution. • • Learn more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antholog...
