The army line is about eight miles in length and operates a passenger service which links up with the Southern region stations at Liss and Bordon - it is essential to train soldiers in transportation when an army is operating over wide areas . The engine's whistle blows and the passengers wave from the carriages - the carriages were obtained from British Rail and were used as ambulance coaches in this country and on the continent during the Second World War.
