A RARE FUNAI ZV427FX4A VCRDVD wont take a tape Mechanical binding

I have seen many many Magnavox branded units but this is a first for me, an actual FUNAI branded unit. A ZV427FX4A model. The complaint is that it will not load a tape. I found the issue to be a mechanical binding, possibly from a minor drop, or a factory defect.
