6. Tuberculous ulcer – it is usually formed after formation of caseous necrosis and rupture of an abscess in the lymph node. Neck, axilla, and groin are commonly affected. The regional lymph nodes are enlarged, non-tender and matted. • 7. Syphilis – • i. Primary stage – there is usually a single hard chancre seen on the external genitalia with incubation period of 3-4 weeks. The ulcer is painless, and the base is indurated. Surrounding lymph nodes are enlarged, painless, discrete and usually do not suppurate. • ii. Tertiary stage – there is a gummatous ulcer occurring in skin over bony prominences like sternum, skull, tibia. Ulcers occur due to obliterative endarteritis of small arteries supplying skin. The edge is punched-out and the floor is covered with wash-lather slough. • 8. Soft chancre or Ducrey’s ulcer – it is caused by Haemophilus ducreyi. The incubation period is 3-4 days. The ulcers are usually multiple, painful, and the surrounding lymph nodes are enlarged (bubo), tender and may suppurate. • _______________________________________________________________________ • Topic: Ulcer. • Sub-topic: features of tuberculous, syphilitic and ducreyi’s ulcer. • • #medical #medicaleducation #surgery #medicalmilieu #ulcer • ________________________________________________________________________ • For FREE medical notes visit https://medicalmilieu.com/ • Follow on Instagram: / medicalmilieu • Follow on Twitter: / medicalmilieu • Follow on Facebook: / medicalmilieu • Follow on Pinterest: / medicalmilieu • Follow on Telegram: https://web.telegram.org/k/#-1701989021 • Follow on Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/medicalmilieu • Follow on Reddit: / medicalmilieu • E-mail for Business enquiry: [email protected]
