Mr. Shah Faesal is an independent politician and former bureaucrat from Jammu and Kashmir and a doctor by qualification. In 2009, he became the first Kashmiri to place first in the Indian Civil Services Examination which motivated a huge number of local aspirants to compete in the UPSC examination. During his career as a civil servant for nearly a decade, he served in postings such as Deputy Commissioner (Bandipora), Assistant Commissioner (Pulwama), Managing Director of J K State Power Development Corporation, Additional Secretary of the Department of Tourism, J K and Director School Education, Kashmir. In 2018, he was a recipient of the Fulbright Nehru Master’s Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School.
