Please consider supporting me at / lindsayholiday and help me make more fascinating videos! • Two of Disney’s dandiest supervisors Cogsworthfrom Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Governor John Ratcliffe from Pocahontas (1995) have quite a few similarities. Though Cogsworth is a good character and Ratcliffe is a villain they look a like. Both have a frilly fashion sense with distinct mustaches and very proper diction. Before being enchanted into a clock, Cogsworth was the butler of the Beast’s castle and still tries to maintain tradition, order and control. Similarly Ratcliffe dominates the Jamestown colonists with an iron fist and holds stubbornly to rules. • Here is Cogsworth… • And Governor Ratcliffe… • Both characters where voiced by and modeled after American actor David Ogden Stiers. Here he is in his most recognizable live-action role as Major Charles Winchestr on MASH. • Stiers’ distinct voice gave life to many animated characters including The Archdeacon in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)… • And Jumba in Lilo and Stitch (2002)… • I do not own rights to any of the footage.
