Sorry for the long wait! As I mentioned in a YouTube community post, I wasn't in much of a music-making mood the past few weeks, so I decided to not make a new original song in May. This has happened before, and I knew that I'd do something about this eventually. My friend Bryan, AKA Tobikomi put out a song a week ago called Leave! Just Go! ( • [Original] Leave! Just Go! (K051649 +... ), which used the chipset of Konami's 1992 arcade game Hexion (which was adapted from David Markley's Hextris). To my surprise, that game used the Konami SCC, a wavetable/WSG chip, with the OKI MSM6295, a sample chip! In fact, the MSM6295 was the same chip used by Capcom in their CPS1 arcade hardware for games such as Final Fight and Street Fighter 2 as well as the likes of Raizing for Battle Garegga. That's quite a chipset there! I knew I had to do something with it in Furnace, so I got to work. I felt inclined to try my hand at something akin to hard rock, especially since I recently covered Angela Belti's theme from Atlus' Power Instinct on the Namco C30 WSG. I originally wanted to use the MSM6295 for guitar samples, but I quickly discovered it's one of those sample chips that doesn't let you change the pitch of samples on the fly. I ended up using the MSM6295 only for drums, since that's what Street Fighter 2 did with it anyway (and yes, the drum samples I used came from Metal Slug ;P). I must also mention that I recently decided to stop taking my ADHD medication Vyvanse, which I'd been taking for about a decade. I felt that the side effects of it were screwing with my body too much for me to keep taking it, so I'm now trying to work without having to take them. I can proudly say that this is my first song I've made without taking any of those pills, and it only took me 3 days to do this! It usually only takes me about 2 days to make a song, so I'd say I'm on the right track. Before completeing this song, I decided to christen it as a pride anthem since it's currently pride month. Since I'm bisexual, and since it's a chiptune rock song, I named it Rock Both Ways! I'm very pleased with what I've done here, and I hope you all enjoy it. Stay safe, guys! ^w^ • Here are the downloads for this song: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... • Composed by: Andrew Ambrose • • Patreon Shout-outs: • Austin Kaiser • Holly • Eric M Ambrose • Kerokoid • Be sure to share this song if you enjoyed it, and consider supporting me on Patreon (100% optional): / andrewambrose
