In 2020 the Echo Dot was given a huge cosmetic update that changed the shape of the Amazon Echo Dot, that was launched as the Amazon Echo Dot 4th Generation. • The Echo Dot was updated from it's familiar hockey puck shape to a more eye appealing sphere. The 4th Gen Echo Dot carries over the favorite features of the Echo Dot Generation 3 but also contains several updates to the internals of the Echo Got Gen 4. • The Echo Dot 4th Generation processing chip was updated to provide faster Alexa voice response times, and better speech processing. The speaker was also relocated to provide better directional forward facing sound. The Echo Dot 4th Generation does sound better than the 3rd Generation Echo dot but is still a small speaker that lacks bass. However it does sound good for low to medium levels of volume for listening to music when you're at a desk. • The Echo Dot 4th Gen also incorporates recycled materials and a low power mode to reduce power consumption when not in use or idling.
