I would like to share my experience treating epididymitis. This is a rather common condition that can occur in both, children and adults, and can be treated very effectively with acupuncture. The symptoms include pain and swelling of the testicle. What channel shall we choose? Testicles belong to the Kidney system. Yes, we may need to address the Kidney channel, but the correct answer is, this is the Liver channel disorder. The Liver channel wraps around the genitals, and the inflammation takes place in the connective tissue, and not the testicle proper. The Gallbladder channel also wraps around the genitals, so we can use it too, but the Liver channel needs to be addressed first. • Our treatment strategy should be to move Qi and drain dampness. Based on this information, we can decide the Five Phase characteristics of the acupuncture points. Metal affinity points move Qi and Water affinity points used to drain dampness.
