The latest in my 1973 film series is Fred Zinnemann's adaptation of the novel The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth. James Fox stars as The Jackal (not to be confused with The Joker), a highly disciplined professional assassin who is hired by French insurgents to take out Charles de Gaulle, the President of France in the early 1960s.
