Cleaning A Turbo In 5 Minutes

We're removing the VNT turbo off of this 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with the ALH engine and giving it a good cleaning. The car is over-boosting which can cause limp mode problems and even turbo failure if left untreated for an extended period of time. This car has a VNT 15/17 hybrid turbo, but the process should be the same on all older generation turbos, such as VNT15, VNT17, VNT17/22, and VNT18. Ideally, all VNT/VGT turbos should have their exhaust side cleaned every now and again as preventative maintenance to help ensure that the turbo has a free range of actuation. • Want to become a channel member?
