For more tips on how to care for your birds go to: • http://americansingerbirds.com • It's almost canary breeding season in our aviary and it's time to get the canaries ready. To protect the baby canaries we must trim their nails and beak. You'll notice that he doesn't take much off of the beak, just a smidge. Enough that it won't hurt the baby canary, and to prevent the beak from scratching the baby's mouth/throat during feeding. • Also the medicine that is being applied in the video is a treatment for fleas and mites. These bugs are deadly for canaries. One infected bird can kill off an entire aviary. This is a step we do to help ensure that our birds stay healthy.
