First episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from May 25, 1992. Following the departure of Johnny Carson, Jay's first show was broadcast live and featured a classic monologue, a comedy skit, introduction of Branford Marsalis as band leader, first guest Billy Crystal, a performance from pop/r b star Shanice, and a fun discussion of economics with CBS correspondent Robert Krulwich. Shanice performed her hit I Love Your Smile as well as a cover of Minnie Riperton's Lovin' You. Recorded from WVTM 13 in Birmingham, Alabama.
