This is somewhat similar to coin roll hunting, looking for the special treasures or varieties, but better! • Key and semi-key date coins are terms used in numismatics to describe coins that are relatively scarce and are therefore considered more valuable or collectible than other dates in a particular series. • A key date coin is the rarest and most difficult to find in a given series. These coins are often the ones that collectors seek out to complete their collections, and they tend to command higher prices due to their scarcity. • On the other hand, a semi-key date coin is not as rare as a key date but is still less common than other dates in the series.
