Maya the Chihuahua loves to go outside, but with the 17-year-Cicada on the East Coast emerging in full force, going outside has become a hard sell for Maya. This cute chihuahua doesn't mind the insects themselves, she just cannot handle the screeching noise as they fly about looking for mates. This fast pace video shows the transition between the joy of being outdoors, the wind rippling her merle coat, to the absolute panic of not being able to handle the ear piercing nonstop noise the Cicadas make. • Chihuahuas have very sensitive hearing and I think after the first 7 minutes of being exposed it may have become painful for Maya. We were outside for only 10 minutes and when distress took over we went right inside to treats and comfort. No chihuahuas were traumatized or inconvenienced for this video, I even edited personal potty time so that Maya's dignity would be intact.
