Decorating Open Floor Plan | Tips Ideas / In this video, I will show you some ideas on decorating an open floor plan and how to mix metals and textures. I will also give you some tips on dealing with problem areas. My coach is rough linen trimmed in the same color wood as my flooring, which we use throughout the entire house. My pillows are fur and velvet, And YES, I have fur out all year round! If you can wear white in the winter, I can have fur out in the summer! • In having a neutral color pallet, I feel you can mix all metals and textures. The wooden boxes pick up the same color as my floor lamps, and I also have candlesticks on the dining room table to pull the color through. • And a quick tip... buy things for function and beauty. These boxes hold all of our keys and sunglasses! • I use gold which is in all my frames and mirrors. Our dining room table is picked up in the legs of our chairs and stools. Also, I have cast iron throughout the house in our railings and tables. • We live in a Philly Row Home, on a corner property that is angled. So we decided to put our front door in the middle which helped square off the room. • • The problem we had was dealing with an angled wall! So here are some tips that will help disguise the problem. • Tip #1: Pull everything away from the walls, create the illusion that your space is squared off. • Tip #2: Curtains! Curtains help fill the space. I also extend the curtains past my windows to give the illusion of a bigger window. I wanted to frame the coach. • Tip #3: Use round tables- so there are no hard edges to line up • So the trick in decorating an open floor plan is to pull all of your elements equally throughout your space.
