The Stabbing Attack On Monica Seles • Monica Seles is a retired Yugoslavian tennis player. She learned the sport at a young age and began playing at the pro level at age 15. Between 1990-1992, Seles was dominant in winning eight major titles and rising to number 1 in the rankings. However, the course of her career changed in April 1993 when she was stabbed during a change-over by a German man named Gunter Parche that claimed to be a Steffi Graf fan. Fortunately, Seles made a clean physical recovery but mentally the incident weighed on her mind.
