The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center is where you should begin your visit to Gettysburg. Funded through donations coordinated by the Gettysburg Foundation, the facility had its grand opening on September 26, 2008. The center features a museum gallery on the Civil War and Gettysburg, the film A New Birth of Freedom , the newly restored Gettysburg Cyclorama, and a bookstore. • The Gettysburg Cyclorama is the work of French artist Paul Philippoteaux (1845-1923).
