Asha (aka Asher Quinn Asha Elijah) sings his original 'Kyrie' from Heal Your Heart. CD/track download available here ~ http://ashaquinn.com/healyourheart.htm • I filmed for this track in Counties Mayo Galway, and also in Connemara, Ireland. In the event, against the marvellous, dramatic backdrops of moor, mountain, waterfall and ocean, I collated nine different versions to this one track. I call them 'The Nine Kyries'! This first one is the main feature. • 'Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison', from the ancient Greek; 'Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy'. A Kyrie can be a musical form, like a sonata, concerto, opera or ballad... so there are many 'Kyries'. This one is my own composition... my own offering, expressing the mercy of the resurrected Christ as I experience it in my soul. • There was an extraordinary moment during the filming in the west of Ireland. I went with to film not only for 'Kyrie', but also for my version of 'Scarborough fair' and the poignant native ballad 'Kilkelly, Ireland.' As you can imagine, to get this footage I toured far and wide to find suitable locations, and collected many 'takes'. The weather was untypical sunny and warm... hot even... this was three whole days of unbroken sunshine in mid-October, almost unheard of in this Atlantic outpost. • I sang the 'Kyrie' many, many times during the day, by the powerfully inspiring landscapes. It became a kind of meditation... almost a mantra. I felt myself going deep within the experience of the merciful Christ in my consciousness. • The final footage was shot as the sun was setting. I was silhouetted upon the rocks and against the ocean. Right at the crescendo of the piece, during perhaps the thirtieth time I had sung it that day... right at the end as I held my arms aloft in one final exultation, during this kind of spontaneous Tai-chi/eurythmy movement I had evolved, two beams of sunlight poured forth from the sky and placed me in a pyramid of light. This also lent me a halo in that moment, and seemed to be responsible for a refraction of light that created a blue diamond on film. I didn't know this as I was singing, as I just use a basic Sony camcorder and it's often hard to see what I'm doing on the very small screen. It was only when I looked at the footage later that I became aware of the magic of the light, and the cosmic humour involved in that moment... as if the Gods saw this tiny man expressing divine love and reaching for the heavens, and sent a kiss. I felt greatly blessed. • I am so small • I can barely be seen. • How can this great Love • be inside me? • ~ Rumi
