Following my breast MRI and biopsy, I am now set to get my SAVI SCOUTS inserted. And I must admit, the experience was one that I won't forget. I talk about a few different terms in this blog so check out the technical definitions below: • Atypical Hyperplasia - Atypical hyperplasia is a precancerous condition that affects cells in the breast. Atypical hyperplasia describes an accumulation of abnormal cells in the milk ducts and lobules of the breast. Atypical hyperplasia isn't cancer, but it increases the risk of breast cancer. • SAVI SCOUT - A SAVI SCOUT is a metallic reflector about the size of a grain of rice that is placed inside the breast in the tissue that needs to be removed. It cannot be seen from the outside and is not something you can feel once it is placed. In the operating room, your surgeon will use nonradioactive radar waves to detect it in your breast. This will guide him or her to the location of the abnormal tissue that requires removal.  • ******************************************** • Follow my journey on IG!   / cancer_with_cancer
