Flight services from Puducherry relaunched • Special welcome: The Spicejet flight being given water cannon salute on the first day operations in Puducherry on Wednesday. • SpiceJet flight takes off to Hyderabad • Puducherry is once again back on the aviation map with a SpiceJet Bombardier aircraft starting daily flight services in the Puducherry-Hyderabad sector on Wednesday morning. • A 78-seater aircraft, SEJ 1004, from Hyderabad landed at the airport with full capacity around 11.30 a.m on Wednesday marking the resumption of flight services. The plane was given a water cannon welcome as it taxied down the runway. • The return flight, SEJ 1005, with 76 passengers, took off for Hyderabad around noon. • The entire cabinet, led by Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, ruling party MLAs, Chief Secretary Manoj Parida and senior officials were present at the airport. • The resumption of flight operations at the Puducherry airport, under the Centre’s flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme, ended about two years of hibernation, since Alliance Air had suspended its operation six months following differences with the government over subsidy. • Spicejet launched its service in 2013 with direct flights connecting Puducherry and Bengaluru, but stopped its operation after about a year. • Optimistic about routes • SpiceJet Head of Airports and Ground Services Suman Rautelaa said the company was optimistic on the Hyderabad-Puducherry sector. “We have started the route after a lot of ground work. For the next six days, we already have more than 60% capacity,” he added. • Mr. Rautelaa said the low-cost carrier would explore launching services to other sectors. The flight would take off from Hyderabad at 10 a.m. and reach Puducherry at 11.20 a.m. The return journey would resume around 11.40 a.m., he said. • With the new flights, Puducherry would be connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Tirupati, Ahembadad, Jaipur, Chandiagarh, Vijayawada, and Varanasi with convenient onward connections on the SpiceJet network, the operator said in a release. • This Video Covered From Pondicherry Reporter (Puducherry) From South Indian Crime Point Weekly.
