Oh Freedom- Performed and Produced by Cynthia Liggins Thomas • I'm Celebrating Black American History by recording and sharing some of the most heartfelt songs on earth, Negro Spirituals. In this video, you'll hear my rendition of one of the most well-known spirituals, Oh Freedom! • ___________________________________________________ • Oh Freedom • A Post Civil War Song • Most likely written shortly after slavery ended by one, or more, emancipated slave, like many Negro spirituals, the song has more than one meaning. Not only does it refer to freedom in the world to come after death, as many slave spirituals do, but it celebrates their new freedom in the here and now. • In the 1950s and 1960s, the song was commonly sung as part of the Civil Rights Movement. • __________________________________________________ • Cynthia Liggins Thomas – Producer/Performer • I have music available on Itunes! •   / cynthia-liggins-thomas   • Check out more of my music on YouTube: •    / cynthia liggins thomas - topic   • On Spotify: • https://open.spotify.com/artist/3P0sN... • On Pandora: • https://www.pandora.com/station/21090... • ___________________________________________________ •   / singing.cynthia   • https://www.cynthialigginsthomas.com • #CynthiaLigginsThomas • #OhFreedom • #BlackHistory • #BlackHistory365 • #BlackAmericanHistory365 • #LestWeForget
