These wrens decided to use our clothespin bag for a nest! The Bewick's wrens are declining in California (but not endangered yet), so I'm considering making them a proper nesting box since they often nest in the same spot each year. • 00:00 information • 00:08 exit nest • 00:12 waiting to return • 00:58 regular speed • 01:15 28% slower • 02:17 regular speed • 02:48 food • 02:50 12% slower • 03:17 freeze frame • 03:23 regular speed • 03:32 chewing me out • 04:41 the babies • It is clear that they are looking to see if predators are watching for where their nest is located. When they were building the nest and especially when feeding their young they would look around before going to the nest. And they would not go if they noticed I was there. The one bird spent a long time buzzing at me, to get me to move away. I didn't put it in the video, but there was a time when he spent 10 min just peeking around the deck slates, every five seconds, to see if I was still there. • https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/B... • See also: •    • Bewicks Wren   • https://nestwatch.org/learn/all-about... • https://feederwatch.org/learn/common-...
