Self care is a concept that many people talk about, but don’t actually share specific details on how to do. Oftentimes, self care is categorized as different types of pampering: getting your nails done, massages, bubble baths, etc. But in order for self care to be effective, it has to be deeper than that. The mental health field is at a higher risk of burnout than most other professions and therapists should learn early on in their careers how to sustain themselves to optimize their personal and professional lives. • In this week’s episode, I discuss how burnout and stress can result in many therapists quitting the mental health field.
