The first 21st Century Steam excursions for 2014 were to be pulled by restored Southern Railway 2-8-0 #630, however #630 was still in the shop following major firebox work. Pinch hitting for the steamer was Norfolk Southern's Southern Railway Heritage Union #8099. • The weather for the Saturday trip to Attalla, Alabama, was less than ideal, while it couldn't have been any better for the Sunday trip to Oneida, Tennessee. • We chased the train both days, and here are some of the highlights of the weekend of March 29th and 30th, 2014.
