The PDF of four carols is available in A4 and US letter sizes. • A4: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8pB... • US Letter: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8pB... • My book, How To Really Play The Piano: http://www.billspianopages.com/how-to... • Follow me on Twitter: / billhilton • My Patreon crowdfunder: / billhilton • I get quite a lot of requests for help with playing Christmas carols on the piano, so this tutorial is designed to offer a few hints and tips on the genre. One of the problems many pianists face at Christmas is endless requests to play the piano for family singalongs - and because you play piano you're expected to be able to play *anything*, including Christmas carols. The trouble is that many commercially-available books of carols use heavily simplified, dull arrangements. • So in the tutorial I show you how to take a carol melody and make it into a more practical arrangement that you can play on the piano to support your family and friends while they're singing. I've also put together a set of arrangements for four carols that you can either use for your own Christmas Day carolling (!) or as a way of further learning about the style. • Although this is basically meant to be fun, there are some useful lessons in here about harmony, playing to accompany singers (especially inexperienced singers) and how to use the piano as an accompanying instrument. • The four carols that I have arranged for piano and voice are While Shepherds Watched, O Come All Ye Faithful, It Came Upon The Midnight Clear and Hark, The Herald Angels Sing.
