Your fuel injection computer (DME) may output a code that indicates a faulty camshaft position sensor (CPS). This important sensor tells the car's computer where the flywheel is located in relation to the combustion cycle. The DME takes the signals from both the cam position sensor and crankshaft position sensor, and calculates when to fire the fuel injectors and spark plugs. If the crankshaft position sensor is not operating properly, your car will run very erratically or perhaps not at all. • Replacement of the sensor is not as easy as the camshaft sensor, unfortunately. The crankshaft sensor is located on the rear of the engine up against the firewall on the bell housing. • You will need to remove the engine covers and air intake ducts to perform this work. Please see our article on replacing your air filters. • Next you will need to remove the MAF housing to get access to the CPS. • Read the Full Article: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti... • Time: 2 hour • Tab: $25 • Tools: E8 reverse Torx, universal joint and extensions • Parts Required: New CPS • Hot Tip: Use a mirror • Performance Gain: Smoother running car • Complementary Modification: Replace Camshaft positioning sensor • Applicable Models: • Mercedes-Benz ML320 (1998-03) • Mercedes-Benz W203 (2001-07)
