Footage from the first exploration of the Beebe Vent Field (depth ~5000 metres - the world's deepest known hydrothermal vents) and the Von Damm Vent Field (depth ~2300 metres) in the Cayman Trough of the Caribbean, during RRS James Cook Voyage 44 in March-April 2010. • This compilation was released to the media in January 2012 to coincide with publication of the vent discoveries in the scientific journal Nature Communications (Connelly DP, Copley JT, Murton BJ, Stansfield K, Tyler PA et al.
