This is the instructions for making fried grits… straight from the mountains of east Tennessee. • Recipe is as follows: • 4 cups of water • 1 cup of quick cook grits • salt and pepper to taste • 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil • 1 to 2 tablespoons of butter • 1 cup of flour • 2 eggs • 2 tablespoons of water • 1 teaspoon of black pepper. • Make the grits according package instructions. Pour cooked grits into a loaf pan lined with plastic wrap. • Refrigerate overnight. • The next day, slice grits into 1 inch slices. • Make an egg wash with two eggs and water. • Mix together flour and 1 teaspoon of black pepper and salt to taste. • Dip eggs and egg bath/wash then dredge in flour. • Melt butter and oil in a skillet (must be non-stick) and fry grits over medium heat until brown. • Serve warm • Music: Tuesday • Musician: Sascha Ende • License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...
