How do we use transistors to create switches that can transmit arbitrary signals, whether analog or digital? The answer is the transmission gate. Also known as pass transistor logic , the transmission gate allow for signals to be passed through or blocked depending on the control signal to the transmission gate. Here we describe how to build one out of transistors. • To support the creation of videos like these, get early access, access to a community, behind-the scenes and more, join me on patreon: •   / edmundsj   • This is part of my series on digital circuits: or how computers work, from transistors to logic gates to processors to computers. We explore how transistors function to make logic gates, how logic gates form more complex functions like addition, and how it can all be strung together to make a simple computer.
