Breast milk jaundice typically presents in the second week of life. Affected infants are thriving with adequate weight gain and breastfeeding is adequate. Treatment is generally not required and spontaneous resolution usually occurs within twelve weeks of age. • Lactation failure jaundice (breastfeeding Jaundice) usually presents in the first week of life. Affected infants are often dehydrated and have weight loss or poor weight gain, because breastfeeding is not providing sufficient nutrition. Feeding should be optimized or supplemented and consultation with a lactation specialist should be considered. Spontaneous resolution usually occurs by the third week of life. • Music: https://www.bensound.com • ๐บ Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Quizzes and Tutorials • / @med4vl • #FOAMped #MedEd #pediatrics • Disclaimer: All the information provided by Medical Education for Visual Learners and associated videos are strictly for informational purposes only.
