00:00 Intro • 02:31 AT THE SHOP • 14:59 BACK HOME • The Fender Squier Bass VI is an interesting instrument that straddles the line between guitar and bass, as it’s tuned like a guitar with 6 strings, but at an octave lower than a regular guitar. It’s a great value at 350.00, and I got an open box version from Musician’s Friend for 280.00. The intonation of the low E string is problematic on these guitars, and you need to do a little extra work to get it right. We also locked the floating bridge. This does NOT prevent you from being able to use the whammy bar. Join me on my journey with Steve Helgeson of the famed Moonstone Guitars, as he demonstrates how to get your Bass VI into perfect intonation. • See Steve’s work here: • http://www.moonstoneguitars.com • Studio stuff was shot with a Panasonic GH4, and the workshop stuff was shot with an iPhone 6s Plus with a Rode VideoMic Me capturing sound. In the studio the Bass VI was played through an Eden WTDI, fed into Guitar Rig 5. • Recommended Strings I use now: La Bella 760FS Deep Talkin' Bass Flatwound Bass Strings - Standard (six string set) String Gauges: .029, .045, .065, .085, .105, .128T
