This video is about making a Black Decker Workmate 425 Mobile Base. • These videos that I produce here are not a “be all” or “end all” solution for anything. • These are a presentation of how I do or make things and the jigs that I make or use. • I hope that you will learn from these and that it will inspire you to create something that will work for your particular needs. • “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” This is how I do it. • Index: • 0:00 Introduction • 1:28 How It's Made • 3:38 Summary • The B D Workmate 425 is such a handy tool, but heavy to move about, especially when I have a tool on it. It is of a great height for things like my sander or planer. Lower than bench top height. It does weigh in at 30 lbs. The Kreg folding work table weighs in at 40 lbs. I’m surprised the Kreg weighs so much. I would have thought lighter, yet strong tables, could be made by now. • I got this idea somewhere and finally got a round tuit. • Just took a 3/4 plywood and cut to square dimension of the first, shortest feet, plus 1-1/2” to that dimension to add a 3/4 edge all around. Don’t want the Workmate to slip off, especially if there’s a tool onboard! • Added some 1X poplar to width I needed to get me to the height when the 2nd pair of legs are folded out, after subtracting the height of the casters. I think that was about 7-1/2” total, minus casters, and 3/4” thick bracket on bottom to mount casters to. • Attached the 1X poplar to plywood base with pocket screws. • I can collapse it down and slide away under a table. • LINKS: • Links to Amazon products that I use and recommend. • www.Amazon.com/shop/GaryLundgrenCrafts • Clicking on this will take you to my Amazon Storefront where you can review, and purchase products featured in my YouTube videos and that I recommend.
