Carolan composed this piece at Newport, County Mayo, when Colonel's daughter Anne married Henry Mac Dermott Roe. • Colonel O'Donnell died in 1736 in London Tower and his elegy was written by a friend of Carolan's : Charles Mac Cabe. Ireland was not a widow till to-night . • Harmonized and arranged for guitar in the original key (Am) by Pascal Bournet for Editions Transatlantiques, Paris (http://www.pascalbournet.info) and played on a Masaki Sakurai guitar concert model.
