Pyotr Leshchenko Hoenigsberg's Orch. - Serdce mamy [Mother's Heart] (Original Polish title: Serce matki) Tango, Music: Kataszek Karasiński, Text: Leshchenko, Columbia 1932 (Recorded in Bucharest, UK pressing) • NOTE: Ukrainian singer Pyotr Leshchenko was in the decade of 1920/30s one of the greatest European interpreters of the sentimental tango and the Russian romance. Today, popularity of his fabulous renditions increases and the starting bids for his recordings on the internet auctions rarely are below 100 $ per record. Not only his art, but also his life can be a unique inspiration for today's conoisseur. A simple boy from the Ukrainian village becomes an internationally famous singer, owner of the night clubs and king of the night life in Bucharest, Vienna or Paris of the Jazz Age and after it.... However, the cruel fate awaits him with the outbreak of the 2nd WW, when he and his wife are involved in a difficult and tragically ended game with the Stalinist apparatus in the Eastern Europe... For those interested in details of that story, I recommend You Tube uploadings of Leshchenko's recordings, also available in my channel, with the comprehensive biographical notes usually attached to them. • This tango was composed by two Polish pioneers of jazz,: pianist Szymon Kataszek and saxophone player violinist Zygmunt Karasiński, both of whom led in the 1920/30s the dance orchestra, which was very popular in the most fashionable hotels and holiday spas thoughout Poland. This tango became an evergreen and sometimes is sung and recorded today by various Polish artists. In my channel, available is the fabulous rendition from 1932 by Adam Aston with Henryk Wars Orchestra    • Polish tango: Adam Aston - Serce matk...
