This week we finally take a look at some of the waterline agate, banded agate, Moss agate and fancy jasper that we found in our last rockhounding trip, and have to deal with a blunt tile saw blade... it all works out in the end and the stones are beautiful on the inside. I hope you all enjoy. • See below for a cool description a friend of mine made for Benny’s jasper, if you’ve been watching the last couple of videos the metaphysical properties are spot on haha! • • Minerals Description and Properties • BENOIT JASPER also know as Benny's Stone. • Benoit Jasper is a rare and unique opaque form of Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz. It often contains an abundance of impurities and therefore some regard it as a rock instead of a mineral. Jasper is usually associated with brown, yellow or reddish colours and when it is dull and lacking interesting colours it is not called Jasper but rather Chert. The unique properties of Benoit Jasper cause it to occur in a deep forest green with some swirls of yellow. It is often revered and coveted by collectors for it's beauty and rarity. • Chemical Formula: SiO2 • Colour: Green, Forest Green and Yellow • Crystal System: Hexagonal but as it is in microcrystalline form does not appear in crystals but nodules • Streak: White • Hardness: 6.5 - 7 • Transparency: Opaque • Luster: Vitreous • Cleavage: None • Fracture: Concoidal • Sources and Distinguishing Features: Benoit Jasper is a unique and rare stone. It is generally found as a single specimen by collectors when scouring creeks for other minerals. It is so rare so as to be considered a once in a lifetime find. It is distinguished by it's unique colour and its unique property of being isolated from other occurrences of it's type. Legend has it that a collector is not the finder of the stone, rather, the stone 'selects' the collector. • Benoit Jasper is looked at as a curiosity by collectors and geologists alike for it unusual concoidal fracture patterns which to the naked eye and inexperienced, mimic the shape and pattern of an artifact produced by tool manufacture. Given the controversial shape Benoit Jasper can take on any mineral data and description of this Jasper is not truly complete without inclusion of it's perceived metaphysical properties and general warning. • Metaphysical Properties: • Benoit Jasper is a truly unique stone and is not for the faint of heart. In addition to it's value as a beautiful, desirable mineral-rock specimen it carries with it an aura of wonder. Due to it's unusual presentation of mimicking an artifact it is likely to invoke speculation, curiosity and discussion amongst any who view it. It has been reported to promote rather than alleviate insomnia. It has a tendancy to divide opinion if not handled with care. It is said that the spiritual properties of the stone are so powerful the Jasper itself will remain unnoticed by any but those worthy of treating it with respect and are capable of using it to promote respect and harmony when interacting with others. • • Musical Credits • Sayonara April by KODOMOi / kodomoimusic • Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 • http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... • Music provided by Music for Creators • Sayonara April — KODOMOi • herbal tea by Artificial.Music / artificial-music • Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 • http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... • Music promoted by Audio Library • herbal tea – Artificial.Music (No Cop... • Song: Joakim Karud - Waves (Vlog No Copyright Music) • Music provided by Vlog No Copyright Music. • Video Link: • Joakim Karud - Waves (Vlog No Copyrig... • Truth By Sappheiros • Video • Artist SoundCloud / sappheirosmusic • License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... • Music Promoted by Chill Royalty Free Music https://goo.gl/5NfMV4 • #rookierockhounding #thefinders #cuttingrocks
