Perfume Blind Sampling and REVEAL part 1

Blind sniffing perfume is in my opinion, the most honest way to assess a scent. • Please read the following so the rest of the video makes sense: • A wondrously beautiful soul went to the trouble of sending me 20 unidentified samples of various perfumes, only identified by a number. • The task was simple: just judge a scent purely based on what I smell on my skin. • My nose and my skin. • No unconscious bias based on branding, marketing, price point, influencing, etc • I was given no information whatsoever on any of the 20 perfumes I received, and had no idea even if I had smelled any of these before. • My job was to smell, record my impressions, give my thoughts on whether I thought the perfume was cheap/expensive, designer/niche in some cases, and then provide a rating out of 10. • I want to stress here that these are for all intents and purposes, first impressions. If I tested them as thoroughly as a normal fragrance review, my rating and final opinion might change. • But for me, the best lesson from a true blind sampling is simply that your nose should be the final judge. • In this video, I will give the sample number assigned, describe what I smell, give my thoughts and ratings, and finally reveal what the fragrance is. • I recorded the notes I used in the video before I was told what the perfumes were, so my final thoughts were not unconsciously coloured by knowing the scent/house/brand.
